Welcome to Dottycat.

My name is Trish Jennery. I live with my husband and two sons in an old farmhouse in the UK. We are close to Gloucester, Chepstow and Bristol.

We chose the name Dottycat after our first "bengal" who was called Dotty.

I am not sure if you have noticed that I wrote "bengal" in inverted commas. Here's why: when we bought Dotty we didn't know very much about bengals. Dotty was a beautiful cat, with a wonderful character but she certainly wasn't a genuine Bengal. She cost less money than most, she didn't have pedigree paperwork, and she didn't have the unique qualities that a real legitimate bengal has.

When it was time to buy her a friend, having learnt from the last experience, I researched the breed, and I saved up my money and I bought a beautiful bengal from a registered breeder. This was my first genuine bengal and wow what a cat! But unfortunately this cat had health issues, which the breeder could have avoided if they had invested in the correct DNA testing, and the resulting issue cost our family dearly in emotional terms as well as financial.

However, this stunning bengal had given me a glimpse of how fascinating and loveable this breed is, and so in 2010 I decided to purchase our first female to have kittens: I researched the correct "breed standard", but for me it is more important to breed our cats for health and vitality and bold lovable personalities, in order for them to fit in to their new family's lives easily and with no issues.

So if you are looking for a pet to join your family, feel reassured that I understand your position. We welcome visits into our home with no pressure to buy and we are happy to show you health test documentation. Often people's first visit is just to meet us and our cats before they come to meet a specific litter.  Our kittens can be more expensive than some others you see on the internet but they are vibrant and friendly and I will be accountable for many years to come.

Lastly, when I was looking for my first Pedigree Registered bengal kitten, the names on the pedigree were interesting but the photos of the parents and ancestors were better! So I have incorporated as many photographs as I can here on the site. There are hidden albums on here that can be accessed with a password, so that when you have bought your kitten all the relevant cats can be put into one convenient album for you.

I hope you enjoy the site,

Trish.
